Itinerary 1933-1945

 

 

 

Day 1   Your coach will pick up your party at School and drive to Dover for the short Channel crossing to Calais, with ample time for a meal on board.  Then continue overnight across France, Belgium, Netherlands and Germany.

 

Day 2   After a breakfast stop at a convenient autobahn services, you arrive in Berlin late morning and check in at your accommodation.  Then a hot lunch awaits you.  Although your coach may not be used again today, we provide public transport tickets and full directions for a guided visit to the German Historical Museum on Unter den Linden.

 

Day 3   Your English-speaking guide joins you at your hotel to conduct you on an introductory coach tour of the main highlights of the city, including the Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate, Unter den Linden and the remains of the Wall.

 After lunch, a local expert guide will conduct your visit to the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp.

 

Day 4   This morning you visit the exhibition German Resistance to National Socialism, housed in the former Wehrmacht Headquarters in the Bendlerblock.  A local English speaking expert conducts the tour.

In the afternoon, you have a conducted tour of the exhibition The Road to German Democracy.

 

Day 5   Morning guided visit to the Holocaust Memorial, then rejoin your coach for afternoon guided visit of the Wannsee Conference House, where in 1942 the fate of Europe's Jews was decided.  Thence continue westwards on the return overnight journey to Calais.

 

Day 6   An early ferry, with time for breakfast on board, brings you to Dover, from where your coach will return you to School.
